Children's Yoga Classes
The movements of yoga can be fun and challenging, but did you know that researchers have discovered that yoga also has many benefits to the brain? Children must go through many different physical stages as they grow, for example crawling and walking. Unfortunately all stages are not as obvious or profound as walking, and if they miss a stage, problems show up in their learning and their development! Yoga is now being used to help children learn better, easier and faster by using poses that take them though all of the stages of development and provide appropriate vestibular and proprioceptive stimulation. Because of this, yoga has also shown great success in helping:
· Sensory Processing Disorder
· Cerebral Palsy
· Down Syndrome
· Learning Disorders
· Visual Impairments
· & Many, Many More!
We use music and movement in a high energy flowing class. There will be stories, games and playful poses, so the children really enjoy this! Some of the Brain Gym exercises will also be sprinkled into our classes to create even better brain balancing.
The children will benefit from the physical exercise and the careful sequencing of postures. With these exercises, they will be creating new neural pathways. They will benefit from the language development, motor coordination, self-awareness and control. This will help calm and de-stress them also, so they will be ready for learning during the rest of their classes.
Yoga movements will be taught during this class. Yoga Philosophy is not going to be included with this class, we will only be working with the movements.
